Taking a Sabbatical to Escape "Professional Dementia"
From time to time I feel a nostalgia about a bygone marketing era. Like those flashy ads for Pepsi or Nike, but it just wouldn't resonate with today's crypto-savvy audience. That's the fear I have for the last two years – the fear of succumbing to "professional dementia", doing things that you get used to.
The tech world is relentless. Twenty years ago, we were all about the latest Nokia and sugar water. Now, people are buying NFTs, subscribing to endless streams, and ordering groceries with a tap on their phone. Even f... pizza. Now you order gourmet meals delivered straight to our doorstep – all while attending Zoom conference with your boss.
That's why I'm taking a sabbatical. And this isn't because of burnt out or any other thing people may think of... it's a deep dive into a world that feels lightyears away from my marketing background – the world of decentralized internet and blockchain technology, LLMs and generative A.I.s, crypto's and NFTs and so on.
The way we buy, sell, and even consume content is undergoing a massive transformation. Understanding the future tech, getting closer feels more like a necessity, if you want to be a more advanced marketing expert.
So wish me luck on my adventure into unknown!
